The Old Market Square in the centre of the city has recently undergone a £7 million redevelopment and this stunning new public space will host specialist markets, celebrations, and events across the year. The Christmas market is a festive highlight. The two lion statues that flank the Council House are said to be the guardians of the city and have provided the perfect meeting place for generations.
