Set in the heart of the UK Nottingham is perhaps more famous for its association with the legend of Robin Hood. However, this medieval tale is no reflection of one of the UK’s top study destinations.  Each year thousands of students flock to Nottingham to take full advantage of a city that is not only brimming with history and culture but also has a vibrant nightlife.

For gifts and more independent retailers, check out the Hockley district. With more of a bohemian vibe, you’re bound to find something a bit different. While Clumber Street is one of the busiest pedestrianised walkways in Europe and is home to plenty of high street favourites. Department stores in the city centre include House of Fraser, TK Maxx, Debenhams and John Lewis.

The Old Market Square in the centre of the city has recently undergone a £7 million redevelopment and this stunning new public space will host specialist markets, celebrations, and events across the year. The Christmas market is a festive highlight. The two lion statues that flank the Council House are said to be the guardians of the city and have provided the perfect meeting place for generations.

With a diverse range of theatres, galleries and music venues within 10 minutes walk of the city centre, Nottingham’s  ideal for those after a bit of culture or for fans of live music.

Nottingham is a key stop-off on any self-respecting tour, hosting everything from the up and coming hot list to international stars, West End tours and independent new productions.
