The Central School of Speech and Drama is a UK government-funded higher education college providing courses in acting, costume, design, directing, drama and education, drama and movement therapy, dramaturgy, lighting, media studies, musical theatre, performance, prop-making, puppetry, scenic art, scenic construction, scenography, set design, sound, stage management, technical theatre, voice and writing.

CENTRAL’S PGCE COURSES
The PGCE Media Studies course is for trainee teachers who want to develop themselves into media and film studies specialists in the 14-19 age range. The course is the first and only media subject-specialist taught-programme course in the UK.

The PGCE Drama course is for trainee teachers who wish to develop themselves as subject specialists in drama and theatre studies in the 11-18 age range. It is the largest drama subject-specialist taught-programme course for drama teacher training in the UK.

Students on the courses receive:

  • £6k bursary for your living costs
  • financial aid from your Local Eduation Authority towards payment of tuition fees.
